Competidora carries a tobacco heritage spanning generations. Its history traces to La Competidora Gaditana, a tobacco business with roots dating to the nineteenth century and a longstanding connection to the Dosal family. By the early twentieth century, the Dosal family was involved in the operation of the business in Cuba, with Martín Dosal becoming its sole owner in 1923. Today, the Competidora name continues as part of the Dosal Tobacco portfolio in the United States.
